IT Tools I Use Everyday
FreeFileSync (FreeFileSync.org)
Free file sync is a fantastic tool for copying files from one place to another. The ability to pause, and resume the copy is game changing. It also tends to be faster than windows file copy by only copying what's different between your directories and by using features in windows that not even windows file copy uses. I'm only scratching the surface of what this software can do so please go check it out.
WizTree (DiskAnalyzer.com)
WizTree will quickly scan a folder location (yes remote locations as well) and list all the child files & folders by size in a tree format allowing you to quickly and easily see what the largest (and most problematic) files that are on a PC or server.
Microsoft PowerToys (Microsoft.com)
Microsoft PowerToys is a small toolkit that simply makes your Window's experience better. Its always being updated with new features, so defiantly check out the website. I use one or more of the tools in this kit LITERALLY everyday. My personal favorites are the "Always on Top" and "PowerToys Run".
ShareX (GetShareX.com)
ShareX is a really powerful screen capture tool that I find new ways to use all the time. It can do Region Captures, Window Captures, Scrolling Captures, GIFs, Recordings, and more. The feature I use the most is that you can annotate the capture before selecting the region so, creating how-to / instructional images is really quick and easy. Just remember to turn off the automatic upload to Imgur. (dunno why that's set by default...)
Paint.NET (GetPaint.net)
Not a whole lot to say on this one. Its basically a "Photoshop Lite". Use it for anything you might use Photoshop for. (I use it to make memes of my co-workers 😈)
mRemoteNG (mRemoteNG.org)
If you remote onto multiple servers or computers throughout the day you NEED a software to manage them all. My favorite is mRemoteNG. It supports RDP, VNC, SSH, Telnet, and more. You can store credentials and a bunch of other metadata for each connection. You can also create "tools" (basically commands with variables that come from the connection metadata) to make day-to-day operations that much smoother. A lot to unpack with this one, but HIGHLY Recommend for Admins and Support Techs alike.
WinSCP (WinSCP.net)
WinSCP is a really powerful FTP, FTPS, SCP, SFTP, WebDAV or S3 file transfer protocol client. It allows you to automate using their own scripting commands. You can also save connection profiles for connections you make often. All in all: it does file transfers really good.
